Thread: Hi-Speed SD Card (not SDHC !!) on E6 ?

  1. #1

Default Hi-Speed SD Card (not SDHC !!) on E6 ?

    Hello,

There are some expensive hi-speed standard 4GB SD cards (22.5 MB/s transfer rate - 150x) in the market besides the SDHCs.

    I have two questions:

    1) Will they work with E6 like standard speed standard SD cards ?

    2) If they work, will they make a difference due to the high speed or they act as a standard speed 4GB SD ?

    Thanks in advance.

P.S. I have Transcend 4GB Standard SD card with 3.5 MB/s transfer rate. It works generally fine. However, for the first time the E6 tries to seek some data on the SD, it hangs a short while. I wonder if the hi-speed card pays off.

    Cool

    Thanks for your tip ftdn2006.

I have checked the forum once more and couldn't find any performance comparison between:

    - 4GB SD - Standard speed (~3.5 Mb/s transfer rate)

    - 4GB SD - High speed 150x (~22.5 Mb/s transfer rate)

    on ROKR E6

150x one is almost 3 times higher in the price.
The question is : Will I get some higher performance on E6 ?

Some card readers are not making real difference with the high speed cards and I am not sure for the card reader on E6.

    Thanks.

hmmm, in that case i stand corrected, I knew we had a loooooong memory card thread, but if your looking for comparisons in data access, I have a top ram 150x 4gb and have noticed it lags a for a few seconds as well. I have 2gb card as well and I honestly don't notice any real difference in data access/recovery between that and the 4gb. It takes time on both. I don't think you are going to get seemless reaction time depending on the card you get. If the one you have is compatible with your e6 and based on my experience, I wouldn't recommed the upgrade unless you just have extra cash laying around and it just makes you feel better knowing you have the 150x.
