We'll motorola USB ports are one of the best on the market giving the least problems, I say this out of experience with several other manufacturers, not jsut owning them but speaking to service center reps. Earlier ports with the E398 were horrible but the mini USB is sturdy, unlike the delicate one on my TyTn2 which out of every 3 phones 1 port gets broken, we dont have that problem.
Now back to your port problem, there are 3 possible causes for your problem:
1. Software related: This occurs randomly and unepxected, maybe due to improper signal being sent from the port to the OS or multi tasking while connecting the charger which leads to an overload of the system, when you connect your charger its says connecting Mass Storage device, I've reproduced this problem several times on both my Ming and my E6, a restart should fix things usually, not a major problem and theres nothing to worry about.
2. Water Logging, from my experience at the local service center, most phones with charging problems, similar like the one you have described usually end up water logged, you have short circuitingoccuring at the charging points, if you're lucky a clean with alcohol should solve the issue due to fungus formation.
3. Not to worry though, sometimes your problem is caused by a loose USB port, very rare but possible, a simple soldering solves the issue.
What I suggest is take it to the service center and I hope you're still covered by warranty. Good Luck![]()
