1. No u cannot set custom message tones for diff contacts
2. Yes it works with a few limitations...but that would be sorted out in due course of time with new releases
PS: You boss sends you messages??)
Hi
I am very interested in the Motorola E6 and am thinking of getting this before the end of the year.
I have searched this forum but couldn't find the answer to some of my questions. I would like to know:
1. While I know it is possible to assign different mp3 ring tones to different callers, but is it possible to assign diffrent "SMS mp3 ring tone" to different contacts? i.e. if my boss sms me, E6 will play a mp3 ring tone. If my wife sms me, E6 will play another mp3 ring tone.
2. After searching the forum, I am aware that there is an iphone SMS application. Is this iphone SMS workable for E6?
Thanks!

1. we can only set dedicated RINGtones to the phone-stored contacts... a different tone will play when that contact CALLS you, not text you.
2. Yes, the iPhone SMS works fine (as of now: send only, can't be used yet to make a reply) I think the phone is much more convenient for calls than SMS... though I find myself faster to create SMS and send then since I got used to the keyboard character locations in the E6... =)
When I test the E6 at the shop. I find the onscreen keyboard a too small to use the stylus to point and type. The only way I can type the text is to use the letter recognizer. But that kinda lag in speed as I compose the characters. Also not that accurate. Hence I am looking into the iphone sms application.
you may notice that in the handwriting recognition method of texting, there's two boxes allocated for your handwriting of the letters or characters. this is to allow you to write another letter on the other box while it is in the process of recognizing the first letter you wrote.
