Q: Safe Remove Modem Mode?

when E6 is in mass storage mode, you can safe remove it by click the tray icon to eject. But when in modem mode, there is no such icon, means I can just unplug and USB cable?

I think you are using samba for modem mode , stopping samba daemon for this looking enough.But
Right click My Computer>Properities>Hardware>Device management
you can remove usb modem from your pc.

any operating system does not write files directly to a memory instead it uses cache , and when we remove that memory it writes that cache to memory , it can be any memory . so when in mass storage device if u do not safely remove your hardware operating system will not be able to write anything and no data will be written on the memory . thats y we use safely remove hardware . if u disable cache writing u need not safely remove ur hardware (memory storage) ..
and thats y u need not safely remove ur modem , just unplug it and its done .

Btw, how do i stop samba daemon? I seem cannot find it in task manager of my phone

Samba dont come with the phone preinsttalled, although you havent got samba.So try this suggestion

Right click My Computer>Properities>Hardware>Device management

Yes, I do installed samba. I can copy files over the phone through it. But it doesn't show on the task manager of the phone.
