yes it does... and if you have a plan which is pay per use.. it might incur data costs as well
Does leaving on your gprs/edge use up your battery life?
Are there any other negatives?

Well, they charge a fee each time you connect and then per k used, so I was wondering connecting once and leaving it connected for the period I would need to receive email would be best?
So it does drain the battery quicker... kinda like BT?
I would say otherwise, since I frequently browse on the phone, I've seen some things. It doesn't drain the battery as its hyped to, maybe a little but thats about it. And many a times I leave the browser open on a site, what happens here is after some minutes of inactivity my data transfer stalls and when I come back to the site, it asks me again to choose the internet operator service. You will be charged only when the gprs link is active.
This doesn't mean the on/off option but you can see another option there itself saying 'gprs link :status'.
Hey! Where I can find settings for E6 ? I mean GPRS websession
https://hellomoto.wdsglobal.com/site/phonefirst
here is not listed, I'm interested in settings for Polish Operators - Orange (Idea previously),
Thx
Leaving the lowlevel connection (that is, G indicator is on) on doesn't affect battery life very much. However, it does consume a lot of power if you actually connect (indicated by the little green bar below the G).
I was also concerned, but since then, I leave it connected (indicated by the little green bar below the G or E) quite a bit and notice no real difference with batter life.
