hmm...just to deviate from the main focus of this topic, iv never taken the phone off from the pc even when i get the message to manually restart it...i wait till i get the PASS message there itself
Hey guys,
I've had my ROKR E6 for awhile now and I had no problems at all. Not too long ago I decided to upgrade my firmware from .06P to .08P using RSD lite. It worked fine and I still had no problems. I ended up flashing back to .06P and back again to .08P a couple times for various reasons without any problems whatsoever. The last time that I tried to flash to .08P for good I got to the step in the RSD lite flash process that says "please manually restart this phone" and when I do this and plug it back in...it never says "complete" or "PASS" it stays at "in process". I wouldnt care...except that my phone won't charge when it's plugged into the computer anymore. It doesn't recognize my phone at all (no mass storage device..no indication of it being plugged in at all) for some reason (meaning it also doesn't let me start motorola phone tools and put files onto my phone). I've done everything I can think of (i.e. change USB ports, different version of RSD lite/firmwares etc)..Ive had no luck. I'd REALLY appreciate some help! Thanks a lot, guys.

thanks for the response. that's actually exactly my problem..it's that i can't get past the "please manually restart your phone" stage. I think/hope that's what's causing my computer to not recognize my phone. so you're saying when RSD lite asks you to manually restart your phone you just don't touch it and it eventually says "complete" or "PASS"?
Lol once it says Flashing complete and even if it says manually restart if you unplug its fine, I hardly ever wait for it to even come to that point, but removing it before the Manually restart in not advisable.
Back to topic.....Moto_Hello what you can do is do a MAster reset and see if it works, if it does'nt startup the phone in boot loader and flash it again. If this does'nt work its a hardware problem
to aksd:
I'm not sure how it could be a hardware problem because the weird part is, it will charge via usb when the phone is off (turn off phone, plug into computer, turn on phone and it says "battery charging")..so that works fine..it charges fine from the outlet. the computer just doesn't recognize that there's a device plugged in. On the phone it gives me the "switching to mass storage device" message meaning the computer is somewhat interfacing with the phone. I still have yet to try Konig's method of just letting the flashing process run it's course..hopefully it works *fingers crossed*

Looks like you've got Swap running on the phone or some other app thats using files from the memory card, remove memory card and attach the phone to the comp
EXACTLY , since its not lkely a hardware problem in your case , DEFINITLY do a MASTER RESET AND MASTER CLEAR on your phone , this solved the problem for me .
If this doesnt work u need to do all the steps in this specific order ( VERY important)
Remove everything Motorolla related from your computer . drivers and everything .
Make sure you are using the latest drivers ( get them at motodev.com)
Clean all Moto Drivers from your pc using the latest Driver pack (from motodev) it includes a driver cleaner ) Reinstall Drivers .
Master Reset AND Master Clear your phone .
Plug your phone in ( without changing anythinng)
If it s still not recognized ( would surprised me ) switch the USB mode ( from moddem to usb mode and Camera mode ) and try reconnecting again , also if the usb mass storage mode doesn twork you might wanna check if your sd card is not corrupted .
first of all thanks a lot for the reply and advice. second of all here's what i did...i tried to remove all of the motorola stuff from the computer (i.e moto phone tools i also used the driver pack from MOTODEV "clean only" option to clean the drivers) then i master reset and master cleared my phone. and i plugged my phone without changing any settings...and my computer does absolutely nothing (which has been my problem from the beginning). i switched modes and re-connected and no luck. I tried re-flashing it (i also removed the memory card from the phone to eliminate the possibilty of that causing a problem) using an older version of RSD lite to see if that worked..but again it got stuck at the "please manually power up the phone" stage. although i noticed that during the flash process if i open my "device manager" i see "Motorola USB device" and it has subsections such as "Data communications" etc..BUT near the end of the flashing process when the phone powers up itself all the "Motorola USB device" stuff in my device manager disappears. and of course, when i plug my phone into the computer..nothing happens.
I'm completely baffled and stumped as to what it could be. I've completely run out of ideas and things to try. I'm surprised that i couldnt find someone with this problem SOMEWHERE on a forum. It seems like i'm the only one and i can't get this to work. thanks again for all the help, if you have anymore ideas or things to try please let me know.

Its not a problem with your phone. If RSD Lite recognises your phone then its fine. My phone too says please power up your phone. What you need to do is totally uninstall driver, not just clear them, uninstall them completely, restart your computer and connect your device first in memory card mode with the memory card insterted too see if its detected as a Mass Storage Device.
Also try it with another computer if possible.
