Hello!
I'm trying to create my own firmware, because I noticed the .07p Edge firmware hangs a lot, and using Swap does not help... It's worse when using the realplayer...
I've been sucessful in combining the .08p firmware with the CG's and RDL of the .07p and I'll try to flash the flash file tomorrow...
My question is I've parsed the CGs and now I'm trying to customize the .08p firmware and I'm trying to customize the CGs... After customizing the CGs, how can I recompile them again? I'm using SBFCoDec right now, is there any other program needed? Thanks!
My phones: Motorola D520, Motorola T2288, Motorola T190, Motorola V180, MOTOROKR E6.
Thanks for the reply!
But the thing here is: I have already parsed the CG that I would like to edit, Like the CG34 file... I would like to edit some things there, like the skins folder and the start-up/shutdown animations...
I have already done that, but the problem is on how to recompile them? That's the only thing keeping me from recompiling my firmware now....
So far, What I've done is to add Edge to the .08p firmware... And when somebody manages to answer my question, then I'll try to use .09p and put edge to it... I'll just remove those dang data accounts and figure out on how to delete also the web profile...
Any help on how to recompile the CG folders would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for the quick reply!
hey seach button is your friend :P ... you have to use cgdone and cgstart by imahottguy , these can only be used under linux , so be prepared to learn linux ' s basic if you don t already know them .
do a search for cgstart topic by imahottguy you ll find them ....
and Good luck
You have to do so under linux. You cannot do it via the phone. You'll need to, at the least, boot a LiveCD of linux. Theres a wealth of info available for this on the web. Download this archive, unzip it, and then download a live CD (ie Knoppix) ISO file. Rename the liveCD iso file to: LiveCD.iso. Place it in the folder with the files you unzipped, it'll ask to overwrite, say 'ok'. Now d/l VMWare Player (it's freeware) and then click on it, point it to the directory where you unzipped and placed the LiveCD.iso file. There will be one file that you can click, click it. Then you're in. Unfortunately, SBF Codec only allows one to parse the contents of a CG, not save or 'recompile' them. You can copy the whole contents of the CG that you modded to a thumbdrive and then use it in knoppix (or whatever LiveCD distro that you chose). Use the files that were offered in the thread that was linked above. I have successfully modded and created custom f/w's with the above mentioned method. It's a little difficult, but f/w modding isn't for the faint of heart. It's not as simple as adding a skin or ringtone ya know?I hope that your mix of 07p and 08p works well!
I'm going to start my f/w soon. I'm about 95% done w/ an update to an app here
So yeah. Also, feel free to post any questions here. I, as well as many other members here, will be glad to assist you!

I'm so cool, I had the E6 before the E2 launched! Wait. Never mind...
Hello imahottguy!
Thanks for the response! I've looked into that thread already and thought there's some way to recompile the CGs on a windows desktop...
I've had some sucess though... I was able to replace the CG0 to CG7 and CG18 along with RDL1 and 3... Hope this gives edge to the .08p firmware... The edge flash file posted by askd gave me the idea to do it... Hopefully it will work, and I'll try it soon!
Thanks for the help, guys!
