    Default Carrier comparison

Hi everyone. I just want to first say how thankful I am for this site and all the gurus here. The e6 always seemed pretty neat, but thanks to this support base, I'm ready to drop Alltel and go GSM for the sake of this phone.

So now my issue is which carrier should I choose?

I wanted to wait for the iPhone release to see if that was going to launch ATT into "Uber Carrier" status and force T-Mobile into obsolescence. Well that doesn't seem to be the case, now I'm back to square one.

ATT has Edge, T-Mobile has MyFaves. ATT has rollover but is also more expensive and I hear more gripes about their service.
Is EDGE all that much better than what T-Mobile has to offer?

How about traveling to Canada? I'm in the Det area and business takes me across the border some weekends. Will one work better than the other for this?

    How about Dropped calls, etc?

Thanks very much for your input. I'm looking forward to joining the ranks

well if your switching....why not just get the iphone....than you dont have to deal with all the fixes you have to do for this phone.....and you can get 8GB of memmory with the iphone when you can only get 4GB with the e6 (which has problems).....if i were you i would go with AT&T and the iphone....but its up to you!

i also have cingular and i have no complaints, have had a couple problems in the past but they were quickly resolved with there customer service, they even gave me free 300 rollover minutes for making the mistake after they fixed it. i get good signal strength every were i go and the edge is good enough for the type of browsing i do. and they also have the 3g internet option but the rokr dosent support it. The 3g network is very fast i have there wireless network card for my laptop and it is sometimes faster than dsl .

I dunno about the iPhone. I played with it a little and it is sweet. But its also a little bigger than I'd hoped. And it lacks some of the features I value most, stereo bluetooth and voicedial.
That was the real kicker for the e6. I wanted a phone with handwriting recognition (I really miss that), and I wanted it to work well with a bluetooth headset. When I read about the voicedial hack, I was sold. (I mean without that, what's the point of being handsfree?) Even if it doesn't work great, it'll be better I'm sure than the old Kyocera, where you'd have to record each one.

Not to mention the iPhone is at least $200 more, and requires the use of accursed iTunes.

Does anyone know what the rules are for contracts? Being that I'll have an unlocked phone, will I still be bound to a contract (and exorbitant termination fee)?
