Thread: Phone Problems

    Default Phone Problems

I just bought my phone five days ago and I am having a lot of problems with the phone turning off and turning back on again. I have looked through the different topics and I have only seen one other topic addressing this issue. It doesn't help much so if anyone has any suggestions on fixing the phone it would be much appreciated.

If you just got your phone 5 days back, get it replaced under warranty,
phone going on/off could be many reasons,battery,software/firmware
did you try flashing the firmware/changing skins
clean the battery terminals of the phone and battery

I'm in the states and theirs no warranty for it. I had a three day return policy with the company I bought it from, but I missed it by one day. They won't as of right now do anything for me, but I am trying to negotiate with them. I've tried cleaning it and I'm in the process of flashing it and hopefully that fixes it, but I have a feeling it has to do with the battery. Thanks for the advice.

I've flashed it and the problem persists. I figured out that if I tap the phone against my hand the phone shuts off. Only when I take the battery out and put it back in will it work. I know now its a problem of the battery fitting into the phone. Every time I tap the phone against my hand the phone shuts off and if I open the case and push the battery against the phone to get it closer it turns on. Before I purchase a new battery does anyone have any suggestions? Does anyone know if the new battery will fix the problem or will it be a waste of money? Thank you for your time.

Hey...Judging from what you posted - it could be either a loose battery or a loose connection in the phone. Why don't you wrap a thin layer of paper around the battery (making sure that the power contact points are open, of course!!!) and then try to see if it fits in snug and secure. Then do your experiment to see if it's a loose battery or something wrong with the mobile.

Ohhh C'mon!!! I've got everything working on my mob too, but that doesn't mean I'm putting it here!!!

Dont let the company take advantage of you for one day. Demand for an exchange. Its not fair on your side to have a defective phone. They have to honor your sale.

If you dont get a replacement, just try this
take a pointed tool like a needle
    switch off your mobile
    remove your battery
pull out the four pins of the battery connector towards you
be gentle and do it carefully, you'll break the pins if you put too much pressure
    reinsert battery and check

    post your progress

I agree with the previous post about the battery contacts being faulty, but if you take the battery out and power on the phone directly from the phone charger plugged in the USB port, does it randomly shut off or does it stay on if you shake it around?

I worked on the phone for about four hours and was up until five in the morning figuring it out. Basically I did the same thing srawat_itpro suggested. I folded a piece of paper and put it in the gap between the right side of the battery and the casing. So far its working perfectly. Whenever I hit or tap it nothing happens, it does not go blank. I'll try the other suggestion by wollybyte about pulling the pins out later tonight. I'll try getting an exchange from the seller, but it does not look good. They don't seem to want to budge on the issue about the notification of the phone problem being passed the return policy date. I contacted them a day after the return policy ended and they keep saying that "it is hard exchanging a five day old phone." Anyways I've ordered a replacement battery and hopefully that'll fix it. If not I'll send it into motorola or use the three year warranty I bought. THanks for all the help. I'll keep everyone posted if they're interested.

I worked on pulling the pins out a bit further and it seems to have worked. I've tapped it from the back and shook it, but it is not turning off. I guess the pins were bent in. Thanks for all the help from all the different members.
