    Default Rokr E6 Charging Issue

Hi, my Rokr E6 finally came in yesterday, it was working fine until the battery died on me. It wouldn't power up yesterday so I left connected to the oem ac charger last night (2 prong with a travel charger adapter). I also tried charging it with the usb cable today (also is motorola), but had no luck, it keeps giving me the message "invalid charger" and turns off. Lastly I tried using a razr v3 charger to charge the phone, but no luck as well, when I manage to turn on the phone it just says low battery and doesn't appear to be charging at all. any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Tremaine

It seems the same with my friend, She's come to me asking about that.
But when I try to charge with E680i charging, It work fine, try charge from computer that's OK...

Have you try to remove the battreis for couplle minute or hour yet?

My by it can be solved.

see if you can get a hold of another battery to test , if the chargers aren't working, maybe its the battery.

Thanks for the replies. One of the first things I did was remove the battery, I've tried it numerous times, the longest I had it removed was for about a half hour or so. I've also tried charging the phone over night with the razr charger and again with the oem charger with a new travel adapter I bought because I felt that the adapter supplied could have been the problem. I've also managed to turn my phone on a number of times. I manged to switch the phone into modem mode instead of mass storage mode one instance, so that I could attempt to charge it while it was plugged into the usb cable. It seems to be the most responsive to the usb cable and it seems to charge for a short while before turning off and displaying an invalid charger message.

In the meantime I'm going to be looking into getting a new battery. Also does anyone know if the motorola phone tools software is needed to charge the phone using the usb cable? I have the software installed, but I cannot run the program because it cannot detect the phone because the battery is now dead.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've ended up picking up a razr in the meantime, while I sort out how I'm either going to get this phone fixed or exchanged. I used your idea jdm0830, I held the E6 battery in place in the back of the razr, it seemed to charge fine and went into charging mode no problem when it was off and the battery icon blinked when it was turned on. So I don't think the battery is the problem. I also tested out charging the razr with my foreign charger using both of my adapters (the one that I got with the phone, and the one I bought); the razr appeared to charge fine that way as well. so I don't think it's the chargers either. I'm trying to contact a repair shop now to see if they can repair phone, I got the number off of Motorola's website. I'm also going to call the eseller I bought the phone from online, to arrange possibly exchanging it. If worse comes to worse there's a repair shop across from where I work (the same store where I bought the razr from), the woman who works there says that she'd charge me 50 to repair it. The only thing stopping me from going there right now, is that I don't want to void Motorola's warranty, so I'm going to explore the other two possible avenues first.

I remembered another thing as well, I tested out the headset that came with the Rokr that uses the mini usb port/charging port and whenever I'd move through the different menus (highlighting different icons with the arrow keys) it would make a weird cracking sound in addition to that sound it makes when you move the highlighter. Sound would also come out fine when not moving through the menus. When using the same headset with my razr I do not hear this unpleasant sound. I think the problem might indeed be the charging port. This was also suggested to be the problem to me yesterday by this guy who works at a cellphone store. It is just odd to me that when I manage to turn the phone on and it is connected to the computer with the usb cable supplied it does not have a problem recognizing the power source before showing the invalid charger message and shutting down.
