why dont you store the numbers with the country code?
my phone carrier prefixes the senders phone number for sms's with +960 (country code) and this makes the phone simply display the number as opposed to the name associated with it in the phone book.
for example, I have "John"s number stored in my contact list as 123456. Suppose he sends me an sms. when I receive it, the phone says i have an sms from +960123456 instead of saying it's from "john". which is annoying because now i'd have to check who it's from using the contact list since i don't remember each and every one of my friends phone number.
am I missing a setting or something like that or the the E6 doesn't have this ability? This wasn't an issue on the RAZR. Can anybody tell me if i can set my phone up so I can avoid this? Or if it's not currently possible, a quick way to attach +960 to all the numbers on my contact list instead of going through hundreds of em manually?
why dont you store the numbers with the country code?
That's strange because my phone shows the person's name regardless of what digits are in front of it ...as long as their number is somewhere inside I see the name.
But as suggested above why dont u just store the number as an intl number with the + if it's another GSM .... it doesn't make any difference to the service (I think)
uit happens to me and my old razr too. when u get the message store that number.
yeah I was thinking about putting the country code in front of the number anyway, that way if i move to another country (which I'm going to soon) i wouldn't have to deal with country codes again when i'm trying to call home...
now the question is, does anybody know an easier way opposed to going through all the contacts manually? can it be imported to excel if so, i can macro the operation using rules with VBA... i just don't know how to get it there or something.
anyone?
Yah i know I have the same problem, after a lot of googlin it seems like this issue happens to every1 whos service adds d intl code and d local no. is less then 10digits or sumtin.
A suggestion was made to append d country code in the addressbook to solve the sms problem, but then I can get the sms showin d names, but when i get a call, it doesn't show d name, ie, d problem is reversed...
Any help out there???
I think this might be solved maybe if you store both numbers with the contact, one with and one without the country code. Try that.
daks what firmware are you using? I'm on 08p.
I'm using ahman's hybrid firmware but I always saw the name even before that far as I remember ....the problem I do have is that sometimes I just get an 'unknown number' if the call is from abroad even if the number is in my phonebook, so there is no number or name shown at all.

I don't think the mobile got anything to do with it unless someone else on your own network is getting the number recognized from outside and you don't.
