Well, I've installed it with MPKG, and so far... it's a pain in the ass.
touchscreen works on some buttons... but not the important ones...
Like the one to close the app!
It's right now stuck OPEN.
And I brought up the equalizer... and nowe can't close that either!
Gonna have to "close" it by powering off my phone.
Any ideas on how to UN-install this piece of crap?

will play .pls files, but does not have JSR75 access, so you cannot create (save) them. What's the point, eh?

will not stream radio stations. but will play most thinkable formats, including video. supports .flv as well.

installs as native package. nothing will happen to your flash card contents. you wont have to reinstall anything.

Are the bugs out of that one?
I've just downloaded the one on the post on the same page as yor last one, and minimize and close buttones wouldn't work.
I opened the equalizer, and couldn't shut that either.
(I didn't even try to play any music) I just uninstalled it.

Does this one your talking about play WITH headphones?
And it doesn't cut the end of songs off or have a green screen above does it?

I don't know why people post apps on this forum that don't work properly.

To go... "Oooh look... I got Winamp on my phone! It don't work work worth a damn... but ain't it pretty...!"

They should make a In Beta place for that stuff, so people who want to test it out can, iron out the bugs, etc... and people who don't want to test stuff out, and screw around with buggy software don't have to\, and won't get sucked into wasting their time.
I'm looking far a version of Winamp that works.
And preferably plays music streams like .pls files like the real Winamp.

Ok, for starters, you need to chill out a bit.

Do realize that nobody's obliged to even develop or share anything, so you should be thankful that you are not having to stick to the company powered real player piece-of-crap application.

And everything will have bugs. Just a matter of what you can live with and what you cant. As for the xihuan 666's release, it minimizes and closes properly. It's got a good equalizer going for itself, and it DOES play music through headphones, not bluetooth tho. No green screen and no chopping songs.

The bugs, mp4 videos lag a little. Volume levels set in configuration will affect the entire phone's volume, so be careful.

And dont forget to say thanks to the maker of the application!

If I came off as "un-chilled"... I wasn't.
And it's not that I DON'T appreciate everyone's hard work and contributions.
Believe me... If I was a coder/programmer and could create stuff... I would be making all sorts of stuff to share.
(I'm a graphic artist, and once I get a handle on creating themes... look out! You'll be seeing a lot here from me.)

All I'm basically saying is, that it seems thst there's an awful lot of stuff in the apps section... that's simply buggy as Hell.

And so maybe there should be TWO apps sections...
Working and Beta.

This is the best place on the net for Motorola phones... and I would be absolutely LOST without it.
But some people here seem to take a little constructive criticism a bit too personally.
The reality is... between software that posted in the apps section that doesn't properly work, plus international members that are a bit hard to understand because of not quite perfect English posts... and pages and pages of posts on a single thread on an app...

a person can get LOST on a 25+ thread trying to find an app or version of an app that works and then trying to figure out how to install, configure, and operate it.
And mainly... IF the damned thing actually works well or not.

It can get quite frustrating.

So if something is in development, has bugs, etc...
maybe it should be put into a section called "Beta" or "In Development" for such software.
And for those "willing to live with" such bugs, or want to test it out and possibly develop it further, etc...
they could go there and discuss, develop, play with and post there little hearts out.

But for those who don't... there should just be a section called... Apps.
And you should be able to go there and just download the thing.
End of story.
Without having to go thru pages and pages of posts only to find out 13 pages later in post #223 that the app posted makes peoples phones explode or whatever, and it's full of problems.

But thanks for your input and suggestion.
I'll give that one a try, if you could just point me to the exact post it's listed in to download and try it.
(I really get lost in really long threads like this one on Winamp, and find I can't tell what's what after too many pages of postings.)

On this tread on page 13 you have one that you can close minimise or work with it without minimising because you can see 4 menu butons above player!!! Just look page 13! I have post a picture and program!

Plus you can always close any player exms or rockbox with camera buton!

And for the record, there is already a dev section in this forum. It's probably a pity that not too many people visit it and test out the software present there, so as to give some feedback to the developers. So instead, if there's something that works passably, the devs put it up in the apps section (and i'm personally happy that they do), where it'll get a lot more reception.

As for the long number of posts (and pages in a thread), most guys make it a point to update their first post with the latest and most compatible software, but some dont. Also in some cases, the dev may have a different language version posted on the first post, and post #55 may contain an english skin for it, in which case you will just have to hunt through the pages and find it.

And you can always contact one of the mods here to help out with your suggestion (beta & completely working forums), maybe they'll implement it. All I'm saying is that hunting through 25+ pages and having a few bugs is a small price to pay for the kind of software that we get to have; considering that our input to the software is, well, pretty much nothing.

But the Xihuan888 release was in Chinese, not my native tongue.

And the other "donga" release was the one I was talking about that wouldn't close.
(And I've since downloaded several vesions of this app here, and most have the same response as far as the "X" and minimize buttons working on my phone. So maybe it's just my phone... I dunno...)

The camera button suceeded in closing the app... but if I opened the equalizer... that too wouldn't close, forcing me to use the camera button and closing the app.
(not exactly a "small bug" to me...)

And the one didn't even appear to be "Winamp".
Like I mentioned in an earlier post... I really just wanted to attempt to get a working version of Winamp to try to stream radio stations somehow by either opening a .pls file, or entering a url.
Neither seemed to work, and so I don't really need an "extra" media player as the native Realplayer suits my needs for that.

(I've been searching endlessy for a way to somehow stream internet radio sucessfully. And so far have downloaded and installed and uninstalled as many programs that I could find, but haven't found a single one yet that works well without skipping, not getting stations sucessfully, mysteriously just closing or just plain not working at all. But no luck so far! I think I'm about to give up...!)

So thanks anyhow!


But back to apps being buggy and where they "should be" placed...
despite your "personal feelings"... an app should be placed in dev section if it doesn't do... what it's supposed to do properly.

For instance here's a post that was posted several pages into a thread posted in the "working apps" section...

"This app stopped working just hours after it worked. And since then I'm facing so many dropped calls. I do not know if its because of this application but the fact remains that ever since I installed this app my phone has become one big trouble maker for me. "

That doesn't seem like a "small bug someone could live with" to me...

Ands it just seems like I see a lot of that in the Apps section.

I see something that looks really, really cool... only to find out 382 posts later... that the app is buggy as Hell and in some cases people's phones are screwing up because of them.

Just seems to me that there should be some sort of "rule" in a sticky someplace about where such apps can be placed, etc.

Simply put... if an app has some issues, small or large, or with problems some FW and not others... it should be noted and put in this "Dev section" you speak of.
(I dunno where that is, but then this is a fairly large forum.
I just go to the "Apps" section for my A1200 phone, and look there... hoping to find stuff that works. I don't want to be a "beta tester")

I think if an app is put in the working "Apps" section...
and there's starts to be a lot of issues, bugs, and stuff...
causing pages and pages of instructions, fixes, etc...
it should be moved to the dev section.

(I've had threads that I started that "morphed" into discussions, and went into different areas, etc... and they were moved elsewhere. Why not apps that cause problems and start to result in excessive posting...?)

A thread for a working app should really just have a post like...
"Here... this is a cool app that does this, download it here..."

And the posts that follow should just be either just questions on stuff like how to install it or operate it, etc....
or a bunch of thank you's.

Would save people a lot of wasted time, needlessly excessive posting and headaches.

But hey... datz just my "personal feelings" on the matter, and just a friendly suggestion.

If your x button doesn't work that is your phone or u don't use stylus.X button is working and you can close and minimise player buy that _ or x button and also equliser!Exmms is far better with sound than real player.In Exmms there is not a single bug.Perfect one with a best sound ever better than ipod!
