There exists a software for Symbian phones called Audio Analyzer
The Audio Analyzer uses the microphone on your phone for audio input, analyzes it, and displays the result on the screen in real time. The Oscilloscope function draws the waveform of the sound. The Spectrum Analyzer displays the frequency distribution of the sound. It displays 16 bars, each one corresponding to a frequency interval. And the VU Meter reacts to how loud the sound is.
