I tried to use mplayer (from shell) for listen and watch video over internet, but it's just segfault after filling cache.
i just thinking of an internet radio app for listen to internet radio stations over GPRS. that should be possible.. especial when we have a cheap GPRS flat rate of 1Gb per month or so.. so we could listen to 16Kbit to 32kbit quality internet radio stations in using .pls play lists that shoutcast provides...
or is be able to listen internet radio stations with an mp3/video player like jplayer/mplayer?

hmm.. videos streams needs much more bandwith than just audio streams, so watching video/TV strams we can fergot over GPRS, but Audio streams are should be possible..
Motorola e680 (flashed to e680i) + 4Gb SD card + HT820 Stereo BT Hedphones,
Ubuntu 6.10 + 7.04,
Nokia N95 + 8Gb microSD
Yeah! this would be great, I executed mplayer from telnet session pointing to radio station and although it tried to load it, wich is ok, it send first a fail on trying to resolve the name and finally send a opening failure before exit.
It seems to be at hand with mplayer, but more tunning has to be done.

ok... we are really close to be able to listen radio on A780 throught GPRS....
I tried to call for a radio station from shell using mplayer after connecting the GPRS, and it filled wel the buffer and identified the incomming file as ASF.
Then it exited as it said it missed the codecs.
thats really close!!!!
It also said I should retry after recompiling with the needed codecs...
the icming audio was identified as somethig like wma****** I don't remember wht followed wma (wma remembers me Windows Media Audio but not sure).
Anyways... I think that, provided the needed codecs, or if we tune into an installed audio codec braodcasting station, we should be able to listen radio on A780.
Then, it would be up to developers to create a radio mplayer based frontend app.

good so far, BUT why do you use ASF and WMA? thats are M$ thingys -no wonder they wont work... fergot those M$ stuff!
use rather .pls and mp3 files in 16, 24 and 32kbit from shoutcast.com...
YEAH... on my phone IT WORKS!!!
i used the jplayer's mplayer file
in the console type.
./mplayer http: // 82.49.219.70:8000
Queen Hit radio 98.6 with 24kbit
in the console you can see the counter counting so the mplayer plays it
a problem -i have no sound yet on the speaker, also not when i push the top left button(realplayer button).
also with ./mplayer -dumpstream http: // 82.49.219.70:8000 is possible to record the stream i think.
