Thread: EZX on a1200

That's too bad, Neo1973 should arrive in October for consumers ( www.openmoko.com ) and I think I will be one of the first to purchase.
The dev version can be shipped any day now (300$), even the dev version looks appealing to me.

Good luck with the project and with the bounties.

QPTFScreen, QPTFServer, QPTF and EZXStyle classes looks like some kind of "filter"...

    we can say:
-some methods moved from QWidget to QPTF
-some methods moved from QStyle to EZXStyle
    right ?

QPTFScreen have some relation with QScreen... QPTFScreen it's a parent or a child class of QScreen ?
QPTFServer have some relation with QObject, just like QWSServer... I think it's a child class of QObject...

QPTFServer is a friend class of QPTFScreen like QWSServer and QScreen ?

I don't know if I'm completely right, but I'm trying...

    - undefining the QT_EZX_MUNGE doesn't really help (i think we need to come up with a similar define for QT_EZX_MING and plow though the qt includes and make appropriate call defs).

    - w/o any modifications we can start a ZApp with a ZMainWidget, as well as a QLabel and the app will run, but with anything interesting (buttons, scrollviews, lineedits, etc) the app throws a seg fault. After some digging threw the arm-linux-nm output it appears that there are several Qt functions that have been re-implemented in an EZXStyle class (e.g. drawScrollBarControls).

additionally, functions that are included as a result of defining QT_EZX_MUNGE (e.g. globalRect) are now implemented in a class called "QPTF" that is defined in libqte-mt)

so in addition to hacking the qt includes, we may have to generate includes for these additional classes and forward call from the qt includes to these new classes (i'm a total noob to this so its just conjecture... i really hope someone can correct me on this)

although not related to a "native ezx" app, i have found that with the mkezx package (and the gtk2-directfb libs) it is possible to use glade to graphically layout and devleop an GUI app for the desktop that can easily be recompiled to run on the phone w/ mkezx. in less than 10 minutes i had a mutli-tab applet with various labels, buttons, etc, layed out, built and ran on the a1200.

to get the gtk app to retain control of the screen i run a blank ZApp with full screen ZMainWidget. (e.g. to make sure screen taps go to the gtk app and not the underlying native ezx app, as well as keeping native ezx graphics (e.g. time updates) to affect the gtk app)

i have a test app that is compiled against the mkezx/gtk2-directfb libs, along with the "blanking" app, if anyone is interested in trying it out.

i can strongly suggest that anyone interested in development should check out mkezx. i'd love to have the proper ezx/qt includes for the a1200 for native apps, and will continue to blindly hack at things, but in the long run i think the huge benefit and potential of mkezx make it a great choice!

    @A1200 developer
You permited to use my binary and library to build a new app for A1200/E6. I will share qt-2.3.10 set up as alternative SDK for A1200/E6 but of course you can do it by your self using qt-embedded-2.3.10-free and mkezx. Both available on public domain.
