I can't compile the strace source code.

If you have a cross-toolchain, you can build strace and a lot of other packages from source with a simple "make" using MkEzx : http://www.mkezx.org/.

The necessary patches / build rules for a lot of packages are ready to be used, see here:

Download the A780 add-ons in the download section of this forum. strace is one of the binaries included.
