openssh is pretty heavy-duty. Dropbear is designed to be lightweight and used on embedded platforms. What I don't recall is whether dropbear supports ssh tunnelling. I hope so. Then I can use it to bypass the stupid firewall restrictions that T-Mobile has.

OpenVPN needs to be next up on my compile list.

Yeah, OpenVPN would really be cool!
Although I still have not too much knowledge about it, I´m planning to build up my own VPN using a dedicated root server as proxy. In future it would e.g. be possible to bypass VoIP-restrictions of the providers. Therefore I´m waiting for an UMTS linux-phone...

If you are interested, OpenVPN is integrated in the mkezx build framework (http://www.mkezx.org/). I have made pretty heavy use of OpenVPN on the handset (over GPRS) and it works just fine. I run the OpenVPN server on TCP / port 443, which pretty much all providers allow.
