opie is not a OS, its just a gui or desktop environment for the phone. it is still running the same linux kernel that the phone is.
theoretically you could put symbian on the phone, but first you have to get motorola to give you the details as to how to interface with the actual GSM IC within the phone so that you can, and will have to, write your own phone app.
note that using opie does not wipe out the existing OS and keeps the actual thing we paid for (the phone and Mot's apps); i think you need to do your homework better on what symbian, linux, and opie, are.

i know wat is opie...but can we create symbian opie stlye.....and i dont think we can get the information from motorola unless we have a fren working there...cheers...anyway im not an expert in this this...im just suggesting....cause if this happen..we can make a revolution...haha...
the fact that you asked the question means that you really don't understand fully what opie is and how it works on the phone in conjunction w/ the native EZX apps; i'm not sure why because it is more then well explained in this forum and at the various opie related sites.Originally Posted by anrul_17
in short, no - it is not possible to include "symbian opie style"
