Question Are there APIs to access phone in modem mode?

Is there any set of APIs like driver api that can be used to access the phone like reading the root dir when connected in modem mode? Motorola Phone Tools is able to read and write to the phone memory when connected in modem mode. How does it do? Does it make use of some CDC APIs or something like that? I wanted to write a simple program that displays the directory structure of root dir when the phone is connected in modem mode

You need ssh or telnet, or i didn't understood the question...
Maybe yan0's "mystuff" application can do what you want too...

See also Get a shell - OpenEZX
You can use putty on windows.
If you want to replace something on the flash, it's another problem...

My mobile is Rokr E6 with 10p firmware. this firmware doesnt allow to install mpkg or use telnet.. so i cant use telnet to access the phone.. so i thought of writing a program with driver api's to access the phone similar to MPT accessing our phone to read and write to phone memory, make calls, send sms, etc.. From net, i got to know that cdc class has communication and data interface.. so i there any way to use the data interface to read data to the phone root dir when connected in modem mode? or is there any other way to do this?

Ok, i didn't fully understood the question, so!

Maybe look at belcarra's website ?? They made the usb network driver for motorola, also, zaurus use some similars software/hardware, i've heard zaurus windows drivers worked with the EZXs phones , but i never tested...

file copying: cramfs are read-only... you can have a look at phonetools , and use some cramfs support (even for windows) then do some backup, mod, re-flash cycles ...

mpkg: there are stuffs to install mpkg support... You copy them to SD's .system dir and basta !

display root dir : Usbnet mode (see the wiki link) should be more handy for these tasks, i guess.

use as a phone gateway : cdc-acm there, sounds more logical... The phone should allow this, i've heard it works, but i never tested too...

Thanks for your reply... I have already searched in net regarding this but couldnt get any useful info.. let me try some more with the hints you have given..

Motorola has blocked 10p firmware of E6 from installing mpkg.. so even copying it to SD and running wont work.. only way is to flash with older firmwares..

I was able to put my phone in usbnet mode.. but not able to telnet into it.. it gives "connection refused" message.. maybe telnet is disabled.. (but then not sure why they still have usbnet mode active)

I think it runs only on modded 10p. mine is generic 10p. In that post, it is specified that it runs on "10p by aksd". thats a modded one. Also, as per the thread, modification has to be done in /ezx_user/download/QTDownload folder which cant be accessed in my case... that folder can be accessed only in a modded 10p firmware...
