Default a1200 - new linux phone - chinese manual

mods, feel free to move the topic to a more appropriate forum branch.
    the manual is available here:

    http://www.motorola.com.cn/pcs/servi...als/A1200c.zip

    basic info:

    much improved design:

    Size: 95.7x51.7x21.5mm
    Weight: 122g

    much improved battery life:
    talk time: 270-420 minute
    standby time: 160-200 hour

moto ad pages talk about up to 11 hours of talk time and 2 weeks of standby in case of economic usage.

there's no EDGE nor 3G support, but support for the 4 standard GSM:
    GSM 850/900/1800/1900 GPRS

3 models available in China, Black, White and Red.

    CPU is 312Mhz Intel XScale

New improvements are 2Megapixel camera, and ability to scan visit cards.
    Basically that's it.

If somebody is inclined to get the kernel for the beast, please do.

p.s. of course it runs on the transflash cards and not normal sd's, and of course, the bluetooth stuff is ok now (a2dp, printing etc is supported).
Also, it seems the speech recognition is much improved.

hmm, thats funny because i ran across the english version of a draft of the manual (submitted for fcc testing and compliance, see here http://tuxtops.com/node/474 ) that claimed it was only tri band, but did have edge. from all of the app diagrams it looks nearly identical to the e680i/a780 so i'm hoping the kernel and ezx/qt libs (and all the apps we developed so far) will be the same.

well, funny or not, that's a fact
in other news, the email client now supports ssl, though it might've supported it in the current version too..

in firmware front, the current firmware is

    R532_G_11.00.38P

    after several revisions (30P,32P,34P,35P,37P).

Opera browser version is 8.00, build no. 1555.

awesome!! where are you finding this out from? i haven't kept up with firmware editions lately but is there anyway to infer from the firmware id if the kernel or ezx libs have been updated? (like an idiot i keep checking ebay every couple of hours to see when they might be showing up....)

thanks for keeping us posted !
