thx
Hi,
I've recently managed to get a (reasonably stable) OPIE/QPE built using OE. This has been brewing for a couple of months, but has unfortunately taken backseat to my other releases.
http://cyph.ath.cx:8080/downloads/opie_oe.zip
This package contains the original built-from-source OPIE and a new cramfs with OPIE and QPE apps.
Seems that one of the most tedious challenge is the appallingly large number of applications hardcoding "/opt/QtPalmtop" into their source code. Quite a number of the apps are still very fragile, not too sure whats wrong there.....
Gaim works -- only if you have a rootfs mod that has /root. Refuses to use $HOME
Qpdf2 works sometimes, barfs sometimes when reading back the .xml info
opie-mail won't stop crashing.. argh!
After letting my configs languish for a while, I came back and did a monotone update.. and woosh.. all the .bb files were replaced with new and uncompilable ones. The original opie-1.2.0 files has been deleted from the monotone tree apparently. However, I'm a total monotone idiot, so havent figured out how to roll back yet.
Anyways, I figured I'll just try to get this newer (and hopefully better) version to built.
thx

Despite my OE repository being upgraded to opie-1.2.1 under my feet, with a slightly different arrangements of build script structures, I got the sucker to build again. My modifications now is able to build meta-opie and meta-opie-all. Of course quite a bit of things are commented out from the meta-builds....
After debugging/compiling for a few hours, here is the final cramfs:

Changes (off the top of my head:
more stable (I feel) qpdf2
gaim which does not save in /root (for those who have no rootfs mod)
Konqueror/E included
Here is the set of scripts I use to build this image. I tried to include short descriptions at the top of each shell-scripts. You will most likely need to modify the paths in almost every file (unless your home direcotory is /home/cyph). EZX specific build overrides are in the ezx-opie directory.

This _should_ _theoretically_ build without problems. All done up on a gentoo system. Hint: ccache and distcc will really help here...
Please read http://oe.handhelds.org/cgi-bin/moin.cgi/GettingStarted before trying out the aboveThe archive contains ezx-specific build configuration and a stock copy of bitbake. You'll need to fetch the huge OE repository yourself through monotone.
I'll be away for a month in the Australian wilderness... so I don't think I'll be posting any updates. Meanwhile have fun with this!!
