Thread: PictureFlow, clone of CoverFlow

  1. Default

@erichs_tans: I'm 20, dunno if thats really young now :P. Yeah I am trying to concentrate on the exams, but the damned exams season lasts for 2 months.

Does any one here know a better way of incorporating bluetooth than using BlueZ?

  2. Default pictureflow v3 (test)

PictureFlow v3.0 (test version, if no bugs identified, then final version )
+ Added option to show/hide buttons
    + Added reflection blurring
+ Changed exit button to back. In portrait mode down button and in landscape mode right button act as "back". (I know that if you enable buttons you will see "exit" written in place of "back" on the button, but I'm too lazy to change the image, change it if you want to inside pictureflow/images inside qtdownload folder :P)
+ Added Portrait/Landscape option. Check out the speed in portrait mode!
+ Fixed folder selection procedure (people entering the desired folder and then clicking on Set Directory should get the desired folder)
+ Added thumbnail cache. Instead of resizing the pictures in the folder every time you open a folder in pictureflow, it will save the thumbnails inside a folder called pfcache the first time you open the folder (it will be inside "pfcache" in the folder selected under settings). The next time when you open that folder, it will load thumbnails from the pfcache folder, speeding up the loading part immensely. I loaded 30 large pictures in 2 seconds

Pictureflow will automatically detect any changes to the selected folder and will update the cache itself. However the clear cache and update cache buttons have been provided under settings to be used when:
    a. You increase the side of the slides. Pictureflow will not detect the change and I recommend you clear and rebuild cache of every folder you open after changing the slide size
    b. Whenever you find that the loading sequence is taking too long or it is showing some slides which shouldn't be there.

This build has the potential of containing a fair few amount of bugs, so if you find any please post. And yeah, if you notice a slight lag when scrolling through pictures, just scroll through all of them once and it will get even smoother.

I'll add all the above BS in readme when I update the first post in E6 section

Ok this my imperssions of V 3.0: I like the cache it makes loading time the second time around super fast . I like how u made the center button on the D-pad another zoom option. The portrait mode is a nice add on, its really fast. I like how the exit button goes back to the main menu instead of the exiting the app. The only bug I found was when u hide the buttons there no way to exit the app unless u press the hang(red key). Had A thought is there any way to add the same speed in portrait mode to landscape mode.

When the buttons are hidden, press down button in portrait mode or right button in landscape mode. It will get you back to the main pictureflow screen from where you can exit.

The speed part in landscape mode is possible but only by a person who understands the pictureflow animation code. Currently the phone has to rotate every pixel in the screen on every render of a frame, which causes it to be slower. Maybe sometime in the future someone will be able to adjust the code so that the pictures are rendered and animated without the need for rotation.
