    the ressource has to be in the jarfile oterwise it would be an access to the filesystem.

    ok audiostreaming was a bad sample, i can direct connect to host, or, can i? i believe i cant, just not tried, is it possible to access host over usbnet or ppp from java if i start a grprs connection? in past with e680 i startet a free mms gprs connection and got connected to localhost, but i never tried if this work with routing table too...

    Hmm I only tested to zip the file first before accessing from j2me. Somewhere in the web some guys mentioned it's also possible to access files in the application directory but they mentioned also it's depending on the jvm. Some does, some not.

    But I don't guess it's a problem at all because there is the possibility to sign an applet and then u could access the whole file system. If it's impossible to access the file the direct way u could also write a simple demon which buffers input or output and puts/gets this via jar zip and rms. It's, as always, only a question of imagination.

    i was under the impression that to sign a midlet you have to somehow register w/ Motorola to get a key? i briefly looked through the j2me dev. guid from motocoder but was quite confused as to what is necessary to sign a midlet. is there a brief explaination out there?

    to sign a key from motorola is very tough. u have to go to motocoder.com and be registered with them (thats free)..go to "evaluation"..they ask u to fill out a form and ask u questions like what ur project goal is.. what ur company name? company description etc... after that they evaluate u within 4/6 weeks and sent u an upgraded membership to their site where u can get the keys and plug em in the Midlet..

    once u have it u can access the restricted API's that are (FileSystem and PIM apparently)..

    but its virutally impossible to get approved.. the company has to be huge for it to be approved.. !

    they are just holding back the development for Linux phones.. which will cost them later..it should be open to developers..but i do understand that they do it cos of security reasons..
    well what can we do but to create hacks

    @mudassar:

    U are right with time and how to apply but I don't think it's very hard to get the keys. I also did this with the palm dev program and some others in the past and it was no problem to get access to restricted areas and even get keys for development. But we will see. I applied for it ~ 2 weeks ago and it takes a while.

    @cytux
    yes ofcourse. its absolutely possible.... its just a matter of time i suppose. i applied it too about 2 weeks back
    anyways, can that key be shared ? as in, is there a limit to which it can be used in some midlet or it will always run infinitely..

    i would love to share it with u guys once i get it.. :P
