    Default Hi Mr.mudassar

    Hi Mr.mudassar
i am a symbian developer.i have developed applications on symbian
and windows phones:nokia, sony ericsson, siemens, and so on.
my object is to backup and restore phonebook and images and sound and sms of phone to web server.
and another is to filter spam messages.when spam message arrives, bell should not ring.
I have completed applications with nokia's SDK and mobile windows SDK.
now i am going to develop app in montavista linux based motorola phones.
but i couldn't find SDK for montavista linux phones.
    please help me.
where and how i get it.
    best regards

hmm.. much pleased to c my name on the forum..
however, you dont have to only ask this question to me.. u can write it under normal subject and ppl here are very helpful.. anyone who knows it, will reply to u...

anyways, the objective is not tough from Symbian and windows mobile perspective and i think u already have accomplished that.. i recently used mapirule.dll in windows mobile to block SMS messages .. probably u would have used the same if u have developed SMS spam filter.. or if u plan on doing that on wind mobile.. thats the only way .. not hard !! actually u do need some skills in embedded visual c++

for linux, the first step would be to get hold of compiler..one way is to get into Montavista and to get it from them (which requires ur company to partner with them.. not easy !) but another and most easy way is to get it from this website.. read Leprachauns post and how he developed the cross-tool chain... i havent read it completely but it should either be in download sections or a link to his website.. read his posts about developing native app in QT .. its a lengthy post and patience is required but u'll have to get it through that only...Montavista doesnot have any SDK... there is no SDK at all for linux phones.. its only standard c++ libraries and once u get the tool chain u should be up n ready for creating stuff for linux...

As far as backing up phone book and addresses is concerned, once again, the tough way is to get API from Motorola by being partners with them (this is probably the hardest thing ever known to me in my lifetime) .. u can probably go to MARS easily but getting inside motorola is no joke.. i'd surprised if someone here ever gets it done....the other way which is also not accomplished completely is, matiu's work..read his post in development about "playing with native.db" .. thats the file inside linux which holds all phone addresses, contacts, even SMS's.. ppl are working on it.. if u can work with them .. u can get stuff done...

Finally, the best thing.. achieving SMS blocking in Linux is no joke !!! but u landed on the perfect place where myself and one other guy Rhizod..created a sorta hack for linux... a small program that i created opens the underlying device drivers in linux that receives SMS ... u'll have to read the post "SMS SPam Filter" ....

well my friend, this world is not a free cookie, but this place u might just get lucky. however to get ur free cookies here u still need some work.. that would be read the *POSTS* ... comon u can do that... read the posts that i pointed out... and figure out stuff... its alot of reading so get started now....

if u need any further info or directions.. let me know...

    have fun :P
