Hello all,

Is there software available that will give users a read-out about which IMEI/IMSI/MNS is in their cellular grid? I have often thought about the tower to handset, and handset to tower antenna configurations and the encrypted portion of the GSM signal (billing & SMS, generally) versus the unencrypted portion of the signal (handshake, some voice channels, data channels (as far as the signal from the tower is concerned, anyway)).

It seems to me that based on the activity maintainence signals sent from the tower, that one should be able to get a read-out on who is in the same area. Is anyone working on, or has anyone seen any projects to this extent?

I am a signals guy much more than I am a software guy, so I have always felt that there should be possibility here. I know that us RF types tend to give all the hard work the developers, so, please don't crucify me if I have stumbled on a sore spot, here.
