Don't you know that linux desktop is different from motorola linux? Also, some mobiles support other linux version other than montavista linux.......
These softwares-Video converters, music player, real player etc are for linux desktop or for other linux phones and are not able to install in ming, Rokr e6 or any other motorola linux phones............
U can get many linux mobile apps that are suitable for other linux phones linke sharp Zauraus from softpedia but it comes in a format .ipk that are not able to install on motorola linux phones.........

so softwares with what extension work on linux... also isnt it possible to recomplile the applications meant for other linux phones to make them work on motorola linux phones ?

1).pkg, .mpkg, .mtf, .pskn, .phm, .skn, .jar, .lin etc........
and not .ipk, .sis etc............
2) I don't think it is possible bcz we can't change a sis pgrm to java

wud there be and converter available in future which wud convert sis files to java or other moto friendly format

No. This software needs to be completely ported to the ming platform and recompiled. We don't have support for native linux libs like qt, so almost every graphical software won't work on our phones even after recompiling. The chance for a "converter" is almost zero
