sick of forums

the forums should be cleaned up, when I searched for apps in A1200 board i saw many topics with no reply posts, with questions that were answered. Moderators do almost nothing for the forums, like moving apps to the developed apps sections etc.

what about adding search bar at bottom of page like in IPB Board ?

Well as forums administrator, i believe that for now things are in good shape. I have given moderators specific jobs and i feel they do a good job in doing so. Is there alot of activity? no, but thats because we have good people, the need to watch threads constantly is not needed as is on other websites. And we do have sub-forums where myself and other moderators put developed software inside the sub-forums. It is all to keep things in a collective fashion.

As for some threads that dont have anything, true i can delete them from the database as some are rendered useless. And i can assure you i do delete alot of threads per day. But keep in mind that we will always have new people coming in and wanting to ask questions even if the answer can be found in the stickies. All in all we the staff at motorolafans want to make the forums a unique experience unlike any other place on the web. By adding so many rules, and restrictions on what you can post it would not hurt the site to become widespread.

What about changing phpbb2 script to this more functional ?

i made huge list, i've lost few hours and what ? and still nothing, nobody used it to move some apps into dev. sections.

Ah, i see what you mean, Well the point of developed apps sub-section is for resident applications, 3rd party applications are just listed in the stickies. Everything else can be uploaded to the downloads section or possibly make a brand new sub-section. I see your point But really the Developed Softwares is for in-house developed applications.

meaning, private by private person not belonging to any organisation...
ok but mostly apps in pkg i found are from board users not from any company...
like dosbox, anyview etc.

Dont worry, things are still being moved into that section. I will instruct my moderators to move other applications. Also i plan on makings another sticky with a list of all usefull applications. If you would like to help that would be nice. Trust me when i say that i have lots of new stuff for you guys.

First ^ Downlaod section should be extended and refreshed with all stuff from the forums. Description is a weak point, very often users don't know what they are downloading. Add place for screen. Possibility to post comments.

yes i agree the forum is little shuffled,
admin u can make some member[s] like modertor specificly to maintain proper order in the fourms, rearranging the posts n combining them, i know the powers would b just like the moderators but u can give them new rank..
i dunno know if im giving the right suggestion, but i hope it will be to some help to the community...


also admin u can increase the font size of the search(where FAQ , Search, Memberlist, Usergroups , Profile , You have no new messages etc r located..) so that its easily located to new members n also we can see the new msgs easily....
