Suggestions :


Some old thread pop back up here and there in the Forums , sometimes I dont realize they re old and go like cool they found a way to do it , or like that Radiocomm thread here , it seem like there is a new version out ( of course this example is not good becuz it says the release date on the topic) but you get the idea ..

I was thinking maybe lock old/irrelevant thread . SO if ppl wan to access them they can . Of course the site is still beta ( and quite a mess during the 'adjustement period' ) but I think that would help to keep it in order .

I also think Separating Each phone forums in 2 is useless eventho the goal is to organize , I am not so sure ppl post stuff in the good section .

Last but not least , Merging the A1200 and E6 forums ? maybe not the chat and the stickies ,but take Rockbox for example , its been out and workin for a while , but if aksd wouldnt have post about Doom workin in the E6 section I would still be in the Dark , same thing for Xmms when it was first released ...

As you all know I am not a forum wh*** but close , if I am having issue with this I am surely not the only one ...

DAGr8,

The board has just been revamped with better uploading capacity for Downloads and a faster server. It will take time for things to get back to normal.

Regarding the double posts required for A1200 and E6 that share the same platform, it will be conducted better, but we cant make both sections the same because it would become a complete mess, lots of questions might be overlooked. But I'm sure Alpha and admin have something up their sleeves to make things better.

I understand your frustration DAGr8, it may happen, in time. But for now, we are trying to finish merging the other forums to the new ones ( vBulletin ). I'll be back from holiday tomorrow, and will come full force to help finish moving things around. But yeah, the E6 and A1200 are too different to have one consolidated forum. In the future, there might be something that would accommodate better. But for now, this will have to do...

Suggestion...
When someone uploads an App in a certain section, Immediately move it to a Download Section and lock the thread, and kee a discussion only thread at the same place with a a link to the moved topic in the download section.

I think this will hel in keeping the downloads clean, an avoid newbies from asking where they can get a certain file.

When someone uploads an App in a certain section, Immediately move it to a Download Section and lock the thread, and kee a discussion only thread at the same place with a a link to the moved topic in the download section.

I think this will hel in keeping the downloads clean, an avoid newbies from asking where they can get a certain file.

there is some work on downloads you cant see on the main forum, but it reflects your idea.
comments is the right place for this thread so i move it.

I was referring to the programs and games , or maybe you can refresh my memory and let me know one application that works on 1 phone and not on the other one .. of course the hacks and the mods are not the same reason why we still need 2 forums for these ...

Actualy that is exactly the way it should be done , 1 section for both phones with all the downloads , and both forums could have there own discussion .. Great suggestion ...

Seperating 2 forums will keep it more organised than merging them. Imagine you asking a question without stating what phone you are using. Usually people can guess if you're in that certain forum.

And what about softwares which works in A1200 but not on E6, On E680i but not on A780? There are such cases where it happens.

People who are here long enough will bother and know how to read up to find out how to solve thing, but some people love to be spoon fed.

The only way to curb this problem is by having a downloads section. We havealready got them up but are still currently populating them. In that download section, we are able to put on multiple categories so it is a way better way of organisation. We are not able to make that happen in threads. not yet at least.

I am working on tempates, Alpha43 is doing all the moderating and recruting, and the rest of the moderators are also doing their job in the various departments i've put them in.

organisation is important also, because we do not want to snowball things until when there are too many threads, we will just ditch this place and make a new forum to clear things up. It was lucky we tried to solve that problem earlier on.

I would not say I am right, but I am certain that if things are not organised this way, it would be a much worse surfing experience for a whole lot people.

That is the ONLY thing that bugs me. People just wont bother to look around, and ask there basic questions. Maybe we should ut up a sticky that says "How to find the answer to your question" and tell them to use the search function, and another FAQ for the most commonly asked questions like where to get Yan0. We all know Yan0 is not something E6 users need to bother with...

About the downloads section... should I download files from the E6 forums, and re-upload them to the download section [But this will just use extra server space / Bandwidth] ?

Or maybe, just make a list of where each file is....?
