Applications are written using the Java programming language and run on Dalvik, a custom virtual machine designed for embedded use which runs on top of a Linux kernel.

I haven't done platform development since College. Android has me SOOO excited I am willing to pick it up again. I dream about seeing android running on my a1200. Anyone aware of any projects that are currently undertaking this? If there isn't one, I would be happy to charter one.

This SDK is kinda sick. I'm quite a bit upset that the sdk is java based but it is much more expansive than what we have now for ming and the emulator is full, even simulated calls.

I'd be interested in doing the competition as a team admin.

    to make it simple..
At the moment Android simply SUX. Google is doing the EXACT SAME THING that motorola did with the EZX platform. There is no way to write native Linux applications, they want you to write JAVA only, and run it on a VM, closing the real operating system from the user.
I cannot support a platform that starts like this.
