Talking EA says if it's in the game, it could end up on Android

EA has been taking a long hard look at Android. At the Deutsche Bank 2010 Tech conference, the game maker's CFO, Eric Brown, alluded to recent reports that show Android with a 25% share of the world's smartphone market by 2014, and Apple with an 11% slice of the pie. The executive said, "There's a lot to happen in the future in Android,” said Brown, “and we’re trying to position our mobile business to take advantage of that trend." He added that Android versions of current App Store offerings are in the works. "I think the next big positive wave to push better growth in mobile will be the deployment of an App Store equivalent for the Android operating system," he said.

It looks like a positive situation for everyone. Android owners get to choose from EA's mobile gaming platform and EA gets to sell its wares to a rapidly growing audience. The gaming company is currently bringing in $200 million to $225 million a year from smartphone sales, mostly from iPhone users. EA games currently on the list of App Store top sellers include Tiger Woods Golf, Need for Speed, John Madden Football, FIFA Soccer, Tetris and Monopoly.
