Hello,

I'm starting a new thread for this discussion.

This was being discussed at:

I reverted firmware back to 080423 build (I believe this was number 2).

Phone will still not charge. Still get 'Invalid battery' msg. As long as I charge battery outside the phone, the phone works fine. I can still access wifi fine.

Here are my specifics:

Boot_G_00_02.15R_Martinique

BP/Flex: GSMA910BTUK042
BP S/W Ver: R57_G_10.08.07R

Question

I have the exactly same specifics... and all releases of Igeekmod worked well for me...(I used rsdlite 3.4 and some quite old drivers in windows xp)

I would retry to flash another time, but you know I don't see a solution, I'm ot so experienced in phones repairing...of course as the problem come apparently from a bad flashing...

Ah, did you reboot?

Good luck.

Sabrod,

I should try another flashing.

Please excuse my ignorance when I ask very basic questions (newb).
What is a reboot? How is that done? After flashing, I've done a 'Reset' from the phonet settings menu. I am using Vista and rsdlite 3.8.

Also, where do the firmware's live besides rapidshare? I have only seen 2 of them. 080423 and 080814. Are there any newer ones? I use Linux (Gentoo) for my primary desktop, is there a way to flash the phone w/out using Windows/XP/Vista?

Thanks for your help with all of this. I really appreciate it.

Ah...
a "reboot" is when you switch off the phone , then power it on another time....theoriticaly this should be automatic, but it's the same effect than manually, step by step, swich off>on.
So there is a lot of "methods" ... no1: Battery method, then linux have a command "reboot" in the shell terminal that does that cleanly for you, the red button ( two times with waiting the jobs between the two presses...) also work good...

Ok I stop writing reboot biography ... this will never interest anyone
hehe.

i-geekmod 080814 is the last release, p3t3r started the R2 after releasing it.

Hi 5c0tt,

Your problem sounds interesting... As I didn't have it yet.

Could you please tell me whether the red bootloader screen (press voice recording key while starting up) says something like that:

BATT TRICKLE CHRG DISABLED
I hope it doesn't because I have the this problem on one of my A910s and I didn't find a fix yet.

There are no other interesting igeekmod releases, btw. The first one is gone I think - I would always recommend to use the newest one, as it works fine for me.

@ sabrod: Well, I haven't started real R2 work yet, to be honest. Ok, I did some things that you could call work on R2... but: No build yet. And I had lots of other things to do the last days.

Hello P3t3r,

No msg BATT TRICKLE CHRG DISABLED on the Red screen. I guess that's a good sign.

In a few minutes, I'm going to reboot and reflash with 0814 with a different version of rdslite. Sabrod made mention of another release and having better luck with it. As soon as reflashed, I'll let you know.

I hate to sound like a total newb. Are you guys ssh'ing into the phones? Are you using usb cable? Where can I get more information on doing that? Using the terminal is very difficult. I was using a FreeRunner a couple of weeks ago and I was ssh'ing into that over usb.

Thanks for the patience and your help (both you and Sabrod).

So, if it's igeekmod related, this can be due to the "reset" made next to your first flash???

You meant you choose some "reset to zero" option in settings>phone settings>>>???

Well I'm not aware of any problem like this on A910, too, and a lot of people use igeekmod without problems (well, their number is growing, but they are already numerous ).

Bizarre!!

I'm curious.....

Hello sabrod,

Over the weekend I reflashed the phone at least 3 times. I tried rsdlite 3.4. I also downloaded 0814 firmware again to make sure I didn't have a corrupted firmware. Same results.

I was thinking, what if I were to flash the phone back to normal BTUK firmware just to see if the problems disappears.

What do you think?

How else can I help to debug this problem. I'm not really a developer but I can do some debugging if it would help.

The process of flashing seems very stable. I've never seen a hickup. It always runs smooth.

The other pattern of behavior that I notice is that the battery indicator never goes down. Even though the battery life is dying, it eventually reaches the point where the phone just shuts down.

best regards,
5c0tt

Hello,

Of course! Just look at irq number 3, you'll find "PCAP" : a very greeeeaaaaaat chip! So sweet, simple and cool...not well documented but hey!

Hum, seriously, I neither personnaly have A910 schematics nor debug-enabled AP softwares to log your phone's "sufferings"... except perhaps some dmesg or other things in root terminal, let try and tell me the result if you want to compare.

You know, all I learnt about moto phones came from the A1200's forums here, because they are very well documented and there is "plenty" of experts on it (especially here...a pleasure! )

I just can't tell you where to look...BP? AP? sorry.

And for the moment OpenEzx support for A910 is at very early stage IMHO, to trying such a task. -At least you'll have the glory of being the first!-

You can observe E2 forums here (you can try E2 toolchain to put some of your apps on the firmware), and at e2mod.com as A910 share a lot with this phone, but I don't know if it will help for that particular problem.

I would wait for a better openezx support or a good advise on your prob ( No! I'm not thinking of a b3tt3r one!!?).
For you to not searching in the dark.
