Yes, but does it run Linux?
Linux inherently has fewer viruses to worry abt. Im not sure if this phone runs with privilidged access (rrot) or normal like any unix implementation. If yes then you neednt worry abt viruses.........
ofcourse it does, arent you root when you telnet in and ezx as normal user? The only unix system i know of without root is linspire.
Yes, but does it run Linux?
wht i meant was when the phone is running normaly it shouldnt be in root mode. When you telnet into it then yes u telnet into root. Then you have privilidged access. I made a router using Freebsd and when you boot from that CD it runs with normal acess but you can login and get root access. I doubt this phone is running root all the time.
Some processes are running with root permissions, some with ezx permissions as "ps xau" shows.
Virus on the phone? Yes there is for shure one virus, because I can't live without this phone anymore.![]()

BAD PASSWORD: it's WAY too short

In any system init and some other processes run as root. Doesnt mean ure running the system as root
initially when symbian was out...there was no virus for that too...i think whn linux becomes popular there will be viruses for it..check out this scenario : In MIDP you can easily sent sms messages to different devices. so there can be sms messages be sent from device without user's permission that would cost money....or a bluetooth connection to send files to another bluetooth or even help propogate symbian virus....i guess this needs to be stoped...its just a matter of time when linux phone is out in large no that the viruses will begin to appear. it doesnt necessarily has to be in linux... it could be in KVM.

in linux it isnt gonna happen, because of the root user thing, and in java, you first have to install the app (noticed it gives a 'app not trusted' error?), then run it, and for sending sms's or using gprs, it asks for special permission. Plus the file system acces and bleutooth api's aren't included. So no viruses coming up i guess.
Yes, but does it run Linux?
well there was a linux virus. Im not sure wht the name was. But Linux and Unix as such along with Java and its sandbox is inherently more secure than Windooze and its ActiveX (yessh).......
