I'm not 100% sure, but I think that they only provide source code for GPL or LGPL derived code parts, not the entire TomTom software.
Hi,
After been told by ALK that they don't have plans to continue Copilot for A780 (they say Motorola was in charge of software development and Motorola has decided no to update it), I'd like some of the developers in this forum to talk on this question:
TomTom Go devices (for car) are based on linux, kernel 2.4, and use ARM processor. TomTOm has published lots of info about its inux software (source, libraries, toolkits,...) I'm not familiar with linux programming, you can find such info in this page http://www.tomtom.com/page.php?Page=gpl
Question to developers:
Could it be possible to compile TomTom for our moto A780 with all this info?? Or it is not possible due to some technical reason?
Just an idea...
Thanks

there is no source code for tomtom gps software.
They release only source code to comply with GPL. eg. only Kernel source is available.
I have another idea, couldn't it be possible to adapt another alk software maps to our copilot in the pc, so when we upload those maps to our mobile they'll be up to date? I don't mean another aplication just a way to translate the maps so the software in the pc could undertand them. I'm pretty sure that they have to have some similarities
The idea of porting other NAVTEQ databases seems to be attractive. There are some NAVTEQ collections in the net. ALK didn't give me any support to our system and now they say that the product is obsolete...
I think so
Anyone who knows about navione?
