unable to use copilot after reinstall of pc

recently I have wiped my pc prepping it for windows vista. I took a backup of the folder copilot from program files and my user registry hive.
I have it installed on vista but cannot activate it any more.
I have already contacted the ALK support and this is their response:
"Please note that your CoPilot Live product key code has been closed in November 2006. We are hence unable to deactivate the software for you. The key code you have is a testing code and has been passed around and used by 40 other people. That is why it was closed down as the A780 software after testing and its final release did not require a key code or activation . You should not have a Key Code nor need one, I would recommend you go back to your reseller if you have any problems with this as your software may not be legitimate license copy. On this matter I am afraid there is nothing that can be done.

If you have any further questions, or feel that this incident has not been resolved to your satisfaction, please do not hesitate to bring this to our attention.
".
Now over a year ago, I did purchase it, but do not see how the reseller can help me with that. I was able to use copilot untill I reinstalled my machine. I've tried to copy over the backup of the old copilot map, but that did not help. I guess I had to deactivate first, but yeah I was not aware that this bloody thing was going to give me problems and spent more time on important backups. Now one of the reasons I bought this a780 is that I barely use the GPS, but need it anyway. so ?

i have not read anywhere that copilot is running on vista.
can you do a dualboot with xp and try the backup version?
if you have a backup of your installed copilot there is help for you

I can only do a dualboot with windows 2003, XP is on another machine now.

it should work on 2003 too.
i never tested it.
the only microsoft OS i have is 98, and there copilot is not working.
if this is a workable solution for you, good!
it is very annoying to boot for ONE application another OS
