Default Battery life (oh no, not again!)

What's wrong with this @#$%@#$%-ing phone?
I bought a new battery, bacause the original one went down to a standby time of less than 24 hours. The new battery (same type as for Moto V500) has a capacity of 1200mAh (1,5 times the original one), so according to Motorola specs should easily last for more than a week.

Last week I left it loading for about 3 days. Within three days it is empty again.
I am using the phone mainly as a PDA. It is in standby about 10 hours a day, and in flight mode for the rest of the day. Phone calls are only a few minutes per day.

What the **** is wrong with it? What is causing battery life going down so quickly? Part of the problem is that the battery indicator shows 100% for the first two days, and then goes down to 20% or 5% in the next day. This essentially makes the phone useless, and a complete waste of a lot of money.

If this problem doesn't get solved, my next phone will NOT be a Motorola!

    This is quiet normal.

The battery is from a V500..
But the A780 had a bigger display and some more features than a V500.

The Deep - Sleep - Mode begins after 1 1/2 minute..

On other Moto-Mobiles it does it after 20-60sec..

    No it's not!

The original battery has a capacity of 780mAh. Motorola says that will give 110-180 hours standby time. After a year a got 24-48 hours (even in flightmode, so the GSM part is switched off).

My new battery has a capacity of 1200mAh. About 1,5 times as much. So the standby time should also be 1,5 times more: 165 - 270 hours. But I am getting 48-72 hours, which is far from what I should get with this battery, and far from what I should get with the original battery.

I have also replaced the battery pack on my A780 with 1000mAh. The overall usage time was improved but you cannot apply math proportion when using a phone that runs applications because of the variable processing power requirements. This is more a computer than a classical phone. So it is normal and it is not Motorola's fault.

As I said before: Motorola specs say: 110-180 hours standby time. I am getting less than half of that. In my opinion that is NOT normal.

In 48 hours the battery level goes down from 100% to 50%. In the next 24 hours the phone switches off because battery level drops to 5%.

Almost makes me wanting to return to my Palm m505. Standby time about three weeks, not days!

Specs of companies are mostly better (they test in ideal conditions) than using the devices in practical use.
That's why people invented reviews. In most reviews of the A780 the battery life is rated average or below average. No phone is perfect, and this one is no exeption. If you'd done some research before buying you should have figured it out yourself.

I'll advise you to sell the A780 while it is a rather popular phone (especially the gps version will sell easy) You probably will still get a good price for it. Maybe I will even buy it
My quest threw the wilderness of possibilities on the A780

    funny thing is,

i have some bluetooth devices in my bluetooth stuff

and as long as bluetooth stays on, the battery life is at about 5days again

and i think that copilot sometimes hangs up when shutting down and the the battery goes down after about 8h
