USB Mass Storage Ringtone

Hi guys

Got telnet and samba working so feeling really chuffed - many thanks.

When the A780 is in USB mass storage mode, if an mp3 has been set as the ringtone, it reverts to playing the default midi (acoustica.mid) instead. Presumably, this is because realplayer is not available when in USB mode.

The /usr/language mount in the flash read-only I think so I cannot change the default ringtone config files in there which I presume when in USB mode, is where the phone is reading from. Any thoughts on this?

Would be nice to have something other than Acoustic when the phone is charging in my laptop at work...

That would be possible if a flash file for A780 came out. Then you'd be able to mount the rootfs .smg file, remove the ringtone from /usr and replace it with another one. Btw use the super cool way to get into 3 modes using modem mode, then you can transfer files through usb, while all the phone apps and files are still accesible.

Just curious to know when / if such a flashfile is due out?
Presumably they will be available as they are with other phones? My knowledge of this is somewhat limited so please forgive such short sightedness!

yup as max suggested, why not use modem mode when you're charging, this way, it will not disable your phone and sd memory

Yup. I always use modem mode for charging. Can still play mp3 and stuff.
