A780 EDGE differencies

How do you think, differencies between HongKong (with EDGE) and China (without EDGE) versions of A780 are hardware or just software? Did Motorola save $2 on each phone from using cheaper non-EDGE chip for GPRS-only version of A780?

In Indonesia, the brochure says it's got EDGE feature.

The funny thing is that at the bottom of the back page, it's got that small-letter note, saying, " .... Microsoft Windows Mobile are either registered trademarks or trademarks of Microsoft Corporation in the United States and/or other countries. ... " Hehe. Are they trying to mislead the market from Linux to WM?

Maybe someone knows code to enter secret menu? So then you could switch from gprs to egprs(edge)?

Well i have gotten the non edge version for a cheap price because it was broken when i got it. I (not being a linux user) played and tinkered a bit like i have with all my moto phones. I know one thing for sure. The NON-EDGE version has EDGE and it is disabled (or was) on mine. I was able to turn it on. Not too long after I got the phone into perfect working order *except for that da** 5-way nav* (doesnt work good and cant find support to buy it) and had even gotten LinLoader and Themes on first try. I have the seem that i adjusted to get Edge going. But i cannot remember where i put it. I figured that everybody had already done that before me. And it really does work. It only came on when it was availiable but when it did i tested it every time. Nice, it was, to have Yes. But now i have gone too far with my tinkering and made My favorite, Almost Perfect, handset a really cool looking picture viewer/phone/kinda thingy.
I will try to find that info for you. It is avail on all the phones, just not activated. To be honest the phone has waaaaaayyyy more to offer than what it shows. ***But dont get outta hand with this baby. #just friendly advice from someone who nows...now# when she takes a dump, there isnt much support ( In English ) yet.
Just wanted to say thanks for all the tweaking that you do at your own risk. I have learned a sh**tload of stuff from everybody. I really wish i had as much to give back in return. If anybody has the A780 Belcarra driver and would be kind enough to share it I could really use it. I am currently unable to change to or from any other mode when USB is inserted. Even though it says it will change. Kind of a bummer. I wish that Moto supported a full OS install for this biotch. I could use that im sure. It would be nice to have my touch-keyboard back again too, thats for sure. Just have to wait, I guess?
Well gonna jam. Kinda cravin for Taco Bell right now. Im not sure if my Info is updated , as far as email and Msn AIM and all that other sh** , but if you wanna BS about the best phone that has been created thus far or have any info regarding the drivers or OS i am usually online. Hit me up. Ill be studyin up on Lin. Think i might even install it on one of my drives tonight. Who knows? Later

Any follow-ups here? How did you enable EDGE on a non-EDGE A780? I have one of the bronze box (.TW market) phones and I'd love to be able to enable EDGE. Follow-ups here or by PM would be most appreciated.

I bought an A780 from myworldphone.com, thinking that all A780s had EDGE. Turns out that mine is a bronze box (TW) version that doesn't do EDGE. If there's a way to enable EDGE by editing a seem or something, I'd do that in a heartbeat. Mind you, I'm on T-Mobile USA which doesn't yet support EDGE, at least not officially, so it's not a huge issue for me. Still, I'd like to have the capability for when it becomes widely available on T-Mo...
