strange issues .. corrupt downloads, low volume, etc

i bought this phone USED from someone, very lightly used, these dont seem like issues of age/usage

it seems when certain java apps are running(wlirc for example), people can barely hear me when i talk. i exit/reboot the phone, the problem goes a away.

issue with files being corrupt on download w/ opera. jpg's ~ <= 200 kB download ok. testing, i had what was supposed to be a 7 kB files download as 30kB. larger files ~ >= 500kB show the filesize as 0, says download complete, and creates a 0 byte file. this happens to transflash or phone. they are not full.

right now i have to plug the usb cable in, and mount the damn phone, copy files, unmount,check, then remount to re copy if anything happened. too much work to put a theme on it.

dont know if this is a bug, or feature, if it hangs on trying to format a card, for about 2 hours, the phone reboots.

another thing, data likes to seem to really get corrupted during a transfer process. opera, sometimes pages load, sometimes it has parsing errors.

telnet into phone(i sftped back out to my box to try to get stuff)

^that isnt normal
sftp segfaults or leaves god knows what in files.

the ONLY way i get ANYTHING on this phone really is turn on mass storage, mount the /dev/sd*1 device on my computer, then copy crap on it. before i do anything rash, any ideas?

after still dicking with this im ready to flash the thing. if anyone has any idea. ANY file > 32kB halts at exactly 32768 bytes. Anything.
