Flashing Issue... Please help

Hey guys,

Iam also from india, i was thinking about flashin the mobile with new firmware but iam not convinced in which way its going to help it. Can we use the gps once we flash to new firmware

btw in some thread i read indian A780 does not come with gps hardware

so what way the other firmwares are good??

I was finally able to get my phone started.

I have but when my phone starts i have a bad image which looks like a soiled screen in place of the Motorola logo...

hey guys, same problem here, i flashed my phone to .61 -> R52_G_0D.74.A2R_0D.C0.B1P_SE6820AD3F1_L003_S008_P004_GCOA780000E1025_full.shx.

i actually failed to flash the .61 only step 1 n 4 succeed, other steps failed.
then i flashed 74 and failed at 93%, but phone able to start,
now my boot image a bit screwed, other than that everything seems ok
so i try to restore my sms n contacts using the restore/backupnow, evertyhing looks good except the calendar, everytime try to open, it closes by itself.
is there anyway i can restore my sms without crashing the calendar?
have done master reset/clear also, didnt help much, after restoring the sms, calendar wont open again.

well then i guess its actually "normal" for now.
if screwed bootscreen is the only problem, i think i can live with it, since my phone mostly active 24/7 anyway

I have no GPS on my asian A780 and, like a lot of other people, have never had a problem on flashing from .50 to .74, so absence of GPS chip seems not to be the cause.
Also, I'm among the asian .50 users that had to go through .61 transition firmware before go to the .74, and steps1, 2 and 3 were allways for long time reported to work, as in my case, being normal that steps 4 and 5 fail.
About the logo, it is not a problem, because it is really easy to flash a nice new one to the logo partition with flashkit, theres a thread about it, so I think you can solve it.
In my opinion, this all means we are playing with new chips on your latest phones, different to those found on most of the "standard" phones, which in turn were also different to the ones found on first phones. This would explain different behaviour when flashing same files, specially indicative is the .61 flash behaviour differences along the time...

well, just flash my phone again with R52_G_0D.50.AHP_0D.42.B1P_T673AS_L001_S018_P003_GSOA780T673AS064_1ff.shx.
couldnt do this before, always getting this "error reading file header" before even start the flashing. turning off firewall and put the .shx in the root also didnt help, and just this morning i read somewhere in the thread to put it in the different root (instead C: put it on D: ), and it worked very nicely (with firewall turn off also)

i'm quite happy with this firmware right now, no more screwed boot image, Unbranded, no GPS (can't use it anyway), n able to retrieve my contacts/sms without any problem (which is the first problem why i kept reflashing)
and it has the chinese handwriting board which .74 dont, only use it for fun though (don't understand chinese also :P)
at least i have the latest BP now

anyway i think this forum is really great, most of the answers you want are probably here, but its like a big puzzle, have to look really hard to find all the pieces

It is true that the Boot Image gets a bit screwed if u try to flash with the 74 version on the indian A780.

The issue i had was with my battery. I got it replaced and all is well.
The flash failing at 93% is due to the GPS chip not being available.. i guess someone fugure ti out already.

The phone works like a charm..

hey guys i hav a moto a780.i got it in India at mumbai. it works on .50 firmware i got it updated it from the service center but i hav probs wid it, de call drop almost everytime. pls suggest me which firmware shud i flash it with. pls help me my id is stud_rishab@hotmail.com it will be graceful of u 2 show sum concern....thankyou
