Default Online real time surveillance using A780

    Dear Friend,

I'm using A780 standard opera browser to view IP camera install at my home.

I can't get the image/video. is it something to do with the browser compatibility?

FYI the ip camera using dyndns server to view and the video format is activex or javamode.
In malaysia i can use EDGE service. which is enough to stream the video.

if i use my phone as a modem and browse thru my laptop it will be okie.
but i'm using firefox browser on my laptop.

I wish i could do the online monitoring thru my A780.

please let me know if there is any possibilities.

    TQ

Many of the IP Cameras on the market use a java applet on the client browser to display live video.

It is important to understand the difference between java script and java applets.

Some mobile browsers support java script, but very few support java applets.

The cameras often do have a current still frame at some URL within the camera, for example,

**Example Only** not the actual URL for any given camera.
    //<mycamera's IP>/images/image.jpg

Unfortunately, the location of the still frame is not usually published in the camera manual.

If you can find the URL of the still frame, you can view it on your A780.

I wrote a script to grab the current frame from my camera, and put them on a webpage with a meta refresh tag. The script runs on a small webserver. It's not live video, but it is a still frame that updates every few seconds.

The webserver also scales the images. There is no point in paying to repeatedly D/L a 640x480 picture over GPRS when I can only see a 320x240 image on my phone.

    Tq..
sorry for the error.. it is java applet not java mode.
so in other word i can't view the live video on my a780 using the browser.
is there any possibilities(or other browser) i can use to view the live video?

your suggestion is grab the still image and refresh the browser to get the latest image. i'll try it.

FYI i'm promoting IP camera to home user and i need this function to run smoothly on my mobile phone for demo purpose.

    thanx again for your info.

not yet.. if i use opera mini then i can get the jpeg image...
but i still have to refresh it to get a new image...
i'm trying with "J2ME streamin software" and i'll update if i can view the video.
i'm trying this coz other tel service provider are offering online surveillance using 3G. and their charge is so expensive. Since EDGE capable to streaming video, I'm Looking to use it and the cost is free (only data charges).
If u heard of any software that can use for online surveillance using mobile phone just let me know okie...
