Re: Online real time surveillance using A780
Many of the IP Cameras on the market use a java applet on the client browser to display live video.
It is important to understand the difference between java script and java applets.
Some mobile browsers support java script, but very few support java applets.
The cameras often do have a current still frame at some URL within the camera, for example,
**Example Only** not the actual URL for any given camera.
//<mycamera's IP>/images/image.jpg
Unfortunately, the location of the still frame is not usually published in the camera manual.
If you can find the URL of the still frame, you can view it on your A780.
I wrote a script to grab the current frame from my camera, and put them on a webpage with a meta refresh tag. The script runs on a small webserver. It's not live video, but it is a still frame that updates every few seconds.
The webserver also scales the images. There is no point in paying to repeatedly D/L a 640x480 picture over GPRS when I can only see a 320x240 image on my phone.
