    > Given how close the speakers are on the back of the E680, there is almost no stereo separation with audio. I think the whole "3d sound engine" thing is a gimmick more than anything else after having used the phone for a couple weeks.

Have you tried putting the E680 on your chest while laying down on your bed?

    > The E680 is more flashy with the status light behind the M logo and the bright backlight for the D-pad, plus it has theme support. There is no indication that the A780 is going to get theme support.

There are folders for themes on the phone, but I've not played with them...

    > The E680's D-pad has got to be THE BEST D-pad of any phone I've ever touched. It's solid and every action has a nice clicky feedback. The A780 has a small joystick that's fine, but no where near as good as the E680's.

Actually, the one on A780 sucks...

    > The E680 has several vibration settings where you can set the alert to pulse, or keep up a steady vibration, and a few others options. It also has a menu to change the ring profile in the main tool bar, which is nicer than how it is implented on the A780. I'm surprised these features didn't make it into the A780.

The A780 has the ring profile icon on lower left corner (it's a shortcut)
and you can also switch profile with flip closed using jog dial.

    > Keep in mind there are two kinds of A780 on the market right now: one with EDGE, one without. If you don't want or care about EDGE, get the E680 and install the p1c53| br0vv53r on it. You will not be disappointed.

HMMM and how can I find out which model I have??? Please enlighten me!

    > The A780 has more bluetooth profiles than the E680. The E680 only has audio and PIM profiles.

Do you think this is an hardware limitation, or rather a software limitation?

    > Mobile Phone Tools doesn't work with the E680, even though MPT has an entry for the E680. You would have to use the synch software that comes with the E680 which just provides basic Outlook synching with none of the additional features of MPT.

You E680 users are losing something here... MPT really rocks!!!

Hopefully a theme manager will become available soon. Perhaps with the release of the E680i, as there seems to be at least some mock ups of the phone having the A780's UI.

Eh. It's okay. They should have worked the 680's d-pad on to it though.

Yes, but I like how it's a pop up menu that's immediately selectable on the 680. I am aware of changing the profile with the job dial when the phone is closed though. And there is at least one version of the phone where the ring profile shortcut is not on the home screen.

You would have an EDGE unit if it came in the Hong Kong box and the 'G' for GPRS also changes to an 'E' when EDGE is available. Other indicators of the phone being EDGE capable are it has the VPN and IM clients, when starting Opera, there is no animated intro screen, the preinstalled games don't include two SWAT games. Otherwise, it's a China mainland or Taiwan GPRS-only unit.

Probably software. Bluetooth profiles are usually a driver/software level feature.
