Default A780, T-Mobile (USA), and Automatic Network Time screwed up.

I made a seem edit to enable Automatic Network Time. On my wife's V635, this worked like a charm. On my A780 however, it does something screwy.

I'm in Central time zone, GMT-6. For whatever reason, automatic network time on MY phone picks up GMT-5. As I said, my wife's v635 picks up GMT-6, no problem, so it's not T-Mobile's problem.

    ???

    Anyone experience this before?

Thought I should have the courtesy of mentioning what seems I changed:

offset 00 - bit 0: Settings > Initial Setup > Time and Date > Autoupdate Menu (1 on, 0 off)

offset 55 - bit 2: Time Autoupdate (1 on, 0 off) <-- this will actually activate the feature, the menu item is in offset 00

Any thoughts on what might cause this behavior?

sounds like a daylight savinges time issue really. Is it possible that there's a bit for DST or even that it's enabled somewhere else?

    mkswap -v0 /ram/awesomeswap 16384
    sync
    swapon /ram/awesomeswap</pre>

I don't think so. It clearly displays the wrong timezone (GMT-5, we're GMT-6 here).

On my wife's phone, it is set up identically, and shows the correct time zone, GMT-6.

I had a similar problem with Cingular too.

But, my time always reset to 12/31/1969 1am after awhile. Any idea? Please see my other post for more details. Thanks.
