activating voice commands on euro a780

I recently purchased the euro version a780, with co-pilot, is there an alternative application to phone tools that works on mac computer, that can do seem edit on the phone in order to activate the voice command feature?when i press the voice button on the side of the phone it starts a voice record program, that i dont care too much for. I had purchase the taiwanese version of this phone prior to this one which had the voice feature. Any help would be very appreciated

thanks for your reply but still didnt solve issue, i have been searching this forum and others for days and although i found instructions on doing the seem editing on phone, i have a powerbook g4 not pc, i was asking if it was possible to do theses modifications to my phone using my mccintosh computer. since motorola phone tools can be installed on pc only.

Hi,

I've got the same problem. Euro version of the phone with GPS and a Mac computer. VPC doesn't work with Motorola PhoneTools, so that's no solution.

Reading the forum I also can't say for sure that there is somebody using the Euro version of the phone and that has been succesfull in getting the voice dialing to work.

I missed the MAC part of your email. I apologize for the confusion. I don't own a MAC so I can be of little help. I don't believe there is any way of making seem edits on a MAC. Can you not borrow a friend's PC and make the seem edits or just flash the optimized_a780_setup.shx? Surely you have a friend with a PC.

no prob, I love my powerbook and mac osx, but its trying times like these that make me wanna go back crawling on my hands and knees to windows xp thanks for your input guys, I will try to get it done with a friends pc.

I have two German versions of the A780 and miss the voice dial feature to especially when driving a car.

A little research in the German Motoraloa A 780 forum revelaed that there is a technical difference between the european version and others, f.e. the Europe version has a GPS chip while the Taiwan version seems to have an FM chip.
I am not sure about the US version.

However, it is said that the voice dial does function with the Taiwan version but not with the German one because of the technical difference.

nonsense! it works on the german version as good as in other firmwares ! it recognize even german language commands, and french too the only thing that doesn't work is reading the SMS as it does in english.
