    Default Linloader trouble on A780

    Hello gurus,

I just discovered how to log into my Linux phones and started playing around.
I am currently running on an A780 and its file system structure looks somewhat
    different from the E680.
Anyway, I am trying to make Linloader work on my phone.
After some fiddling (no .mtf files on A780, so I had to install the tar file byhand) at a certain point in time it was working, then it stopped right after I installed a Java app (MIDPssh).

I spent a couple hours trying to make it work again, to no avail.
What happens is simply that the lin_loader script doesn't get called by the app manager.
I am sure about that because there is no log entry in /tmp/run.log.

I tried zapping anything else (currently running with no other extra apps installed).
I created a loader folder under /diska/.system/QTDownLoad and it contains the two icons (who are correctly displayed) and the lin_loader script itself.
I also created (many times, deleted, re-edited, changed id's...) the
/ezxhome/download/appwriter/am/InstallDB file (I don't recall the exact path right now, but you got the idea) and currently only have LinLoader in there.

    I have a ps.lin script under /diska that basically does ps -ef > /diska/psout.txt,
and I use that to see if LinLoader works.

Guess what, it doesn't and I really have no clues.

Anyone out there knows how the application manager works? I suspect that
it's just a matter of some stupid config file somewhere.

BTW not having a MMC card on this phone I just discarded the folder/files under
that folder in the LinLoader archive... the program was working fine without that
so I know it's not the culprit.

    Any hints are GREATLY appreciated!

    All the best,

    Rick

Problem solved!! I was using wordpad and therefore CR's all over...
    now I switched to VIM

Thank you, your suggestion to call it from shell helped...
it was working first time I tried because at that time I used cat to create the script...
then I started using wordpad and things messed up...

    Thanks again,

    Rick

Well I work on UNIX systems since 15 years now.
I am just too excited to have found a cell phone I can telnet into and run a shell
You can be sure I will post here anything useful I will come out with.

    Take care,

    Rick

it creats no test.txt file. i tap on telnet-down.lin or theme installer.lin and nothing... i had the linloader uninstalled and new installed. and now i get no test.txt file. the installation of MACOSX E680I file stops also at the half. but in the folder QTdownloads i can find the files of macosx.
