what to do after upgrading TF?

Just bought a 512 TF card.
Luckily I made a backup of the old 256 card, because now I spent quite some time trying to configure the new card.
What I did first: in copilot on the pc, changed a few POI options and added one region - download this to the card and it doesn't get recognized (i get all gibberish in the file viewer for the TF card).
Finally I just copied the content of the old card and put this on the new one, this works (also the apps that were installed on it).
Maybe this question is already asked but here it comes: What does one have to do when a new TF card is inserted into the phone (knowing that the meaning of this new card is to get more gps regions on it) ?
