Recommended German Hardware?

No serious. Wifi-lan is not supported but there is BT-lan. You can do a search on the forum yourself.
Hi!
Is it somehow possible to get the A780 into a wireless network over WLAN? Is there any hardware you would recommend to buy for the phone for that in Germany? Has anybody it working yet?

What about USB-WLAN...? With a USB stick that is also a WLAN device...

because the a780 is only acting as an usb client device without a hostcontroller, it is not possible to get it working with a usb-wlan device...
there was a discussion about this problem last year... take the search feature...

so, is it still possible.. can software hack enable a780 to act as usb host?..
Hi there,
During the last year, I tried very hard to get USB host on either A780 or E680i. I have studied schematics of the USB subsystem of both phones, and I think that the hardware is capable of doing USB host.
HOWEVER, the stock kernel that is flashed in your phone is not.
More specific: The USB ports aren't periodically enumerated, therefor the kernel does not recognize when you plug in a device, and it will never load the corresponding driver.
FURTHERMORE, the stock kernel does not include the drivers necessery to use any usb equipment, not even a hub or a USB stick.
Therefore we need to be able to replace that kernel first, which is as far as I know not yet possible. So I stopped working on USB host for the time beeing.
Cheers,
Thomas
I believe it is possible to flash the kernel. You can compile your own A780 kernel using this kernel source.
Once you have compiled your own kernel, you can then flash it to the phone using flashkit:
flashcp -v /mmc/mmca1/new_mtd4_kernel.bin /dev/mtd4
I don't know if this will work but I don't think that it's "impossible."
Oh, thanks, so it is now possible to replace the kernel. Cool !
But are we capable of building a kernel wich supports all the hardware of the phone ? I think there are still sources missing (like the mm/gprsmux support)
As far as I know, the selfcompiled kernels are not stable yet.
But I will restart my quest as soon as I got more freetime
Cheers,
Thomas
Look at here! http://gnumonks.org/~laforge/weblog/linux/a780/
It says the kernel 2.6 has been compiled and it supports being a host. Sounds great.
