The european version has no FM Radio. It has a GPS instead

The chinese version has an FM Radio afaik. but no GPS chip.

they are different phones.

E680i is more Multimedia oriented (has FM radio) A780 is more for Bussines oriented.

If you are european your A780 will have GPS

can you access this gps chips with third party applications ? (three software programs compiled for a780)

at the moment the GPS is not accesible by Java Apps that are not signed.
For native apps there is no problem for accessing the gps (as the navigation software does), but I think that the output of the GPS module are'nt standar NMEA sentences.
