    Default hardware modding :)

    just some crazy ideas:

    1) i noticed that the a780 sometimes has load avarages of around 8 when really busy and load avarages around 3 when doing not so much!

would it be possible to overclock the cpu's somehow? (just imagine how you're friends faces would look when they see this phone with a big water cooling system on the back hahaha)

    2) a draw back of this absolutely awesome phone is that it only support a maximum of 512 megs of transflash.
isn't trans flash basicly the same as a sdcard which can hold 4 gigs or more?

if so, somehow you could just hardwire the internal pin headers to the pins of a 4 gig sdcard, right?
so a few inches of wire and duct tape would turn this baby into a real mp3 player or even dvd player with the right software (anybody got xine running on this thing already?)
i admit, it wont look pretty but it would be very cool

    3) another drawback are those crapy loudspeakers in the A780. i can hardly understand what people are saying when i switch to handsfree mode.
just cranking up the volume with a patch is useless since my a780 already growls at top volume so more volume would only make it worse.
so i figured if you somehow could get a heavier / better speaker from a shop that is about the same size as the original ones the volume patch would actually be of real use...

any body feel like getting out his welding gear and try all this out
you can get anything you want at alices restaurant

I've never seen load 8 on my phone. It's 2.00-3.00 at no cpu load and up to 4 when busy. But this 2.00 is because of some motorola drivers scheduling mechanisms used and this is 2.4 kernel issue and should be considered as zero load.

dunno about hardware compatibility between sd and tf, but e680's SD kernel driver doesn't detect TF on a780.
btw, I've seen rumours that 1gb TF card is coming.

Even I am interested in this....I too believe that MicroSD (Better version of transflash compatible with all TFlash devices) has similiar pinouts as SD card.. except a 1 pin..

    http://www.sandisk.com/oem/sd-minisd-spec.htm

Maybe we can find something here..

    SDcard pinout...

Tflash (Hope the pinout is same as microsd):

    Some pinouts here...

One idea to check this is to...Get the Dissambely of the _Tflash to SD card convertor_ , which come with our Phone (A780). Depending on the circuitry inside...maybe we can get some nice clues...

This hasn't been confirmed (or at least I haven't seen anything concrete posted about it yet) since 1GB TF cards are either impossible to find, or non-existant at this point. A lot of manufacturers will put a max memory size in their specs based on what is currently available (or soon to become available) in the market.

Wow, those are some great links! They show it's completely possible to go from miniSD to RSMMC and more than likely to go from TF to standard SD. The question for us though would be, where to put the SD socket? Surely taping it to the back of the phone would not be the ideal solution

Another thing to consider though... does standard SD draw more power than TF? I'm guessing the answer is probably yes.

Maybe like a tiny but more, but it doesnt matter, flash memory consumes VERY little power since it has no moving parts like for example a HD.
Yes, but does it run Linux?
