I am having a problem Telnetting to my A780.

I installed LinLoader and the acmattach.lin script (because at+mode=99 didn't work).
Set phone to USB modem mode, connected to PC, ran script on the phone.
Windows (XP Pro SP2) found new hardware, installed Belcarra driver.

ipconfig/all shows the Belcarra device, with an IP address of 169.254.142.1, and a default gateway of 169.254.142.253.

When I try telnet 169.254.142.2, I get a timeout (both telnet and HyperTerminal). I get replies on ping 169.254.142.1, but ping 169.254.142.253 and ping 169.254.142.2 just give timeouts.

What could be wrong here?
