Default About the Qtopia 1.7 Firmware...

Swifty posted some Qtopia firmware to here
    http://www.motorolafans.com/forums/l...s.php?catid=16

Has anyone tried it? I am interested because I want a better calendar on my phone, but I can't find out things like whether it will sync OTA or do other important stuff like run Java apps...

Does anyone even know whether it is safe to flash it to my phone? If so - would I just need to follow the instructions for normal A780 firmware flash (I've never done a FW flash before...)

    Thankee,

there is no need to flash your phone.

Is this Qtopia or OPIE we are talking about?

The Qtopia is in the 'Firmware' section. If it isn't supposd to be there perhaps you could move it? It just contains an 'exit' mpkg and a cramfs image. Do you know what to do with these?

I have installed OPIE - it's pretty cool! I wish I could use it for the calendar but as yet I see no way to sync it with anything else. Oh, and it's a little slow :P

    Thanks,

    it is an old opie.
in the version0.1 you will have a start.mpkg too, not only exit.

Is it better than the other opie kicking around? Does it mount a loopback image on the TF card?

have you used it, would you advise it?

I'd reccomend you try the opie from here
    http://www.dewmill.com/linuxphone.html

It's Cyph's package and runs well. Make sure you read the ReadMe file first though!

Long life cyph, where are you? Using your opieproxy methode to make eXMMS and Rockbox run on A1200/E6.
